For Abused Women and Children Everywhere

At Vintage Rose Battered Women’s Shelter Corp. in Monrovia, California, we believe that women and children who are physically and emotionally abused should be given a new lease on life. We are a non-profit organization catering to the needs of battered women within the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley counties.

Our Mission

Our non-profit is committed to reaching and seeing through recovery low-income women and children 0-12 years of age who have been victims of abuse. This includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse. We provide them temporary shelter away from their abusers, as well as a place of solace to regain and think about their future without the fear of threat or intimidation.

The goal of our organization is to provide a shelter within a home-like setting. The group setting of Vintage Rose Battered Women’s Shelter Corp. would offer a comfortable family-like atmosphere with scheduled activities which includes the following:

  • Day Treatment Counseling
  • Female Armed Security Guards
  • Job Resources

  • Relocation Programs
  • Training for Reentering the Workforce

Moreover, we also have scheduled staffing of people with backgrounds in family and mental healthcare who have also been victims of past abuse.

Our Founder’s Story

Rosalin D. Marshall is the President/Founder of the Vintage Rose Battered Women’s Shelter Corp. Her story goes like this:

I am the youngest of 12 siblings and my family life was very dysfunctional and abusive. So more than half of my adolescent teenage life was full of physical and mental abuse.

I was always attracted to abusive men who physically abused me; put out cigarettes on my arms; demoralized me; threw me outdoors of my home completely nude; blackened my eyes; publicly raped me for all onlookers to watch in amazement.

I have been through several different battered women’s shelters that saved the lives of me and my three children who were babies at the time. Nevertheless, with the tools given to me by these female staff members I was able to turn being a victim to victorious.

I turned those black and blue marks into pretty in pink! In hoping to give back what was so freely given to me, I had the vision to open the Vintage Rose Battered Women’s Shelter.
